Hello, friends.

It’s been a long time since I’ve written to you, and I promise to get back to some good ol’ teaching content within the week. First, though, I’d like to share a little of my life with you.

If you have been following my blog, social media, or Teachers Pay Teachers store, it probably seemed like I disappeared completely for the past year or so. It felt like that to me, too!

I hit a point about two years ago where something just had to give. Two close family members died in quick succession. I moved to a new teaching position on special assignment. My (then) husband and I separated, and I found myself a single mom with two very young children. Lots of changes happened very rapidly, and things just kept changing! Over the next year, I got divorced, bought my house, transitioned to a new principal, joined a yoga studio, applied for PhD programs, and started figuring out what my new normal looks like. I wish I could say this tough season of life has passed–it hasn’t–but I’ve gotten to a much better point of strength, organization, and coping. It’s been a huge period of growth for me personally, but it also meant that I needed to shelve a few things while I took care of myself. The Rhetor’s Toolbox ended up being one of those things.

I’m back now, with fresh ideas to share with you. I’ll also be working on updating and adding to my Teachers Pay Teachers store. There’s a lot to catch up on and no time to waste!

With gratitude,
Kelly

  1. Your blog and resources helped me make my transition to high school (also as a single mom, among other challenges). Best wishes to you, and thank you for always making me think about my teaching practice. I truly appreciate your valuable lesson plans and tips.
